- Liliac and Castel Mimi wineries are launching the Tandem collection, a series of 3 wine assortments
- The shared investment in the new collection is 300.000 euros
- The wine series will be available in retail, with export plans for the upcoming years
Liliac and Castel Mimi wineries are launching a new wine collection, Tandem, which unites the efforts of two vineyards based in Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
The partnership between the two wineries is possible through a shared investment of 300.000 euros for the launch of the new wine collection. Liliac and Castel Mimi have set the goal of entering the Romanian market, where they expect a natural growth of 50% per year, with 60.000 bottles sold in the first year after the launch.
Tandem represents the union between the Moldovan and Transylvanian tradition through vinification, bringing together state of the art technologies as well as hundreds of years’ worth of experience between the two wineries. The Tandem collection has 3 assortments:
Red Tandem – A mix between Cabernet Sauvignon and Fetească Neagră (Black Maiden grapes) from Moldova, produced by Castel Mimi.
Rosé Tandem – A rosé produced from 100% Merlot grapes, originating in the wine-growing zone of Moldova, with Castel Mimi’s signature.
White Tandem: A coupage of international (Sauvignon Blanc) and local (Fetească Regală) grapes, produced in Transylvania by the Liliac Winery.
The story behind this collection starts with a friendship between the wineries’ managers, former university mates, who decided to put together their experience and expertise to create a premium wine collection which symbolizes friendship and collaboration.
“Liliac Winery has accustomed wine purchasers not only with superior quality, but with pioneering ideas on the Romanian market as well, through unique projects. Tandem is one of the ideas we managed to bring to reality and not in just any way, but with the help of Castel Mimi and my good friend Adrian”, mentioned Miron Radic, CEO Crama Liliac.
“We are proud of our position as the best wine producer in Moldova, but it always brings us joy to have our wines well known on international markets as well. Romania is a strategic country for us, through its prolific market and for the sake of a shared history. A project such as Tandem could have only turned out so well through our collaboration with the Liliac Winery.”, said Adrian Trofim, General Manager Castel Mimi Wine & Resort.
The new collection will be available through big retailers on the Romanian market; however, Castel Mimi and Liliac are also planning to export in the upcoming years.

Currently, Castel Mimi exployes about 250 people. The company produces four wine collections: the Reserve (Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 red dry and Merlot 2012 red dry), the Classic (.ot Gris dry white, Fetească Albă dry white, Sauvignon Blanc dry white, Chardonnay dry white, Roşu de Bulboaca red, Merlot dry red and Cabernet Sauvignon dry red), the Select (Traminer dry white and Muscat dry white) and the Icewine collection.
