Supporting Romanian entrepreneurs who want to hire refugees and expanding schools in Romania with spaces dedicated to Ukrainian children are the main recommendations made by the representatives of Entrepreneurs’ Organization, US biggest entrepreneurial association, who visited Bucharest yesterday, part of a bigger tour in CEE.

Carrie Santos, Chief Executive Officer of Entrepreneurs’ Organization, and David Anderson, Global Board of Directors Chair of Entrepreneurs’ Organization met Mircea Abrudean, head of the Prime Minister’s Chancellery, and discussed how the organization, together with the Romanian chapter, can support the Romanian state to assist the refugees.

Carrie Santos and David Anderson also met representatives of AmCham and US Embassy, and discussed how the business environment can offer assistance to Ukrainian entrepreneurs.

”We had a very fruitful meeting with the representatives of Romanian government and we are sure we will do great projects together. Our members would like to see concrete projects developed with the organization’s funds. So, because we see so many children among the refugees and we strongly believe in the importance of education, we would like /we offered support  to the Romanian county councils, in order to expand a number of schools with rooms dedicated to Ukrainian children. We will soon enter the second phase: we need to figure out solutions how to integrate the refugees who will stay here. And this is a long-term job, so we encourage everyone to support it and help”, said Călin Lupșan, Founder and President South-Europe Chapter Entrepreneurs’ Organization.

Carrie Santos and David Anderson also met representatives of AmCham and US Embassy,  and discussed how the business environment can offer assistance to Ukrainian entrepreneurs.

”Romanian entrepreneurs with business in Ukraine and Russia must be supported, in the context of the sanctions imposed on Russia by the West. Also, entrepreneurs in Romania who can offer jobs to Ukcrainian refugees must be supported. But we must not forget that after the conflict is over, the Ukrainian business environment will need to be re-build, and we are willing to support the business owners with mentoring, practical advice, finding new markets and new clients”, said Carrie Santos (photo), Chief Executive Officer of Entrepreneurs’ Organization.

Carrie Santos has over 8 years of experience as Executive Director of the American Red Cross, and previously worked for about 10 years in the U.S. Department of State, within the Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration, where she formulated and coordinated U.S. political positions on red cross protection and assistance activities, managing annual contributions of over $150 million. She also served in the same office as a Program Officer for Russia, coordinating millions of dollars in annual U.S. Government humanitarian assistance to displaced populations in the North Caucasus following the Chechnya War.

David Anderson is an experienced entrepreneur and CEO, whose leadership path has taken him from president of college fraternity to the White House. For over twenty years, he lived the entrepreneurial dream by starting and operating his own businesses. What started as two people working out of a garage with has resulted in a winding and sometimes bumpy road that has included twenty-plus-year-old marketing agency Off Madison Ave, a publishing company startup, several real estate ventures, and most recently, starting and building the SaaS-based software company LighthousePE. In 2019 David Anderson published his first book, ”Leader is not a title”, which supports his mission to coach and mentor budding leaders and entrepreneurs.

Entrepreneurs’ Organization is present in 62 countries, has over 16,000 members, with a total of over 4 million employees. The organization’s mission is to engage leading entrepreneurs to learn and grow and reach their full potential.
