Rottaprint’s business, 15% growth in the first half of the year
Rottaprint, the largest local flexographic printing company producing self-adhesive labels and flexible packaging in Romania, grew by more than 15% in the first 5 months of the year compared to the same period last year. The evolution is based on investments in technologies that enable printing solutions with special finishes, as well as sustainable materials, but also on the increase in raw material costs.
The printing company reported a turnover of over 32 million euros in 2022, following sustained investments in equipment and machinery that enable the sustainable production of the products in its portfolio, relying on organic growth of the business this year as well.
According to representatives of Rottaprint, total investments of approximately 2 million euros have been prepared for 2023, a part already materialized by the purchase of new printing equipment. By the end of the year, over 800,000 euros are planned to be allocated to both the equipment and technology area, as well as the logistics part. A long-term direction embraced by the company is facilitating the most direct interaction between brands and end consumers through individualized, personalized, and digitized labels and packaging.
“We are coming after a challenging 2022, and 2023 continues to be a year marked by uncertainty. However, maintaining balance, flexibility in partner relationships, and sustained investments in state-of-the-art sustainable solutions remain our priorities. Although there is a continued trend among customers to optimize costs, we have noticed increased interest in exceptional finishes such as soft touch, unique code labels, which are increasingly used in logistics and promotions, or singular labels for casseroles, offering cost efficiency and high productivity during application,” stated Cristi Nechita-Rotta, Managing Director of Rottaprint.
According to him, sustainability remains of interest to customers, being a subject that is gaining ground. The company has already received requests to modify certain recipes and packaging to comply with industry standards, with one measure being the use of monomaterial for the entire packaging, enabling efficient recycling. On the other hand, possible solutions for environmentally friendly labels and packaging are equally complex and need to be aligned across the entire production flow.
“In addition to the brand’s desire to be sustainable, it is necessary that sustainable materials be produced within realistic timelines – certain materials from 100% natural sources may also require 1.5 years for delivery – they must be technically and commercially efficient,” explains the Managing Director of Rottaprint.
Regarding the customers in Rottaprint’s portfolio, they predominantly come from industries such as food production, wines and spirits, as well as health and dietary supplements.
In terms of the company’s products, the most requested ones from the beginning of the year until now have been printed and non-printed self-adhesive labels, printed aluminum caps, and flexible packaging.
