Victory for Romania’s energy independence!
Today, justice has sided with Romania, rejecting Greenpeace’s request to suspend gas exploitation operations in the Black Sea. This decision confirms what we have asserted from the very beginning: we have the right and duty to harness our natural resources for the country’s energy security.
Greenpeace attempted to block, through legal action, the environmental permit for Neptun Deep—a strategic project that will double Romania’s gas production, create jobs, and bring over 20 billion euros to the national budget. Moreover, Greenpeace must pay the price for its failed lawsuit: 450,000 lei (150,000 lei for each party involved). Those who make mistakes must be held accountable. Today, Romania has won!
Why is this project crucial?
Black Sea gas will ensure more stable and lower prices for Romanians.
Romania will become a regional energy supplier—others will depend on us, not the other way around.
The country will ensure a balanced energy transition without sacrificing competitiveness or Romanians’ standard of living.
Romania is using its own resources and standing up against an environmental organization that systematically attempts to block the country’s energy projects.
Congratulations to Aristotel Jude, Răzvan Popescu, the entire Romgaz team, our partners at OMV Petrom, and everyone fighting for Romania! This is the difference between those who merely talk about energy independence while advocating for Europe’s return to Russian gas dependency and those who take real action for a strong and self-reliant Romania! Forward, together!
