Reţele Electrice Muntenia launches 24 million lei tender for advanced circuit breakers
Reţele Electrice Muntenia has announced a public tender via the SEAP platform for the acquisition of modern equipment, with a budget of up to 24 million lei. The tender focuses on the purchase of 24kV non-withdrawable vacuum circuit breakers.
According to a company statement, this tender reinforces Reţele Electrice Muntenia’s commitment to continuous investment in cutting-edge technology, aiming to modernize the distribution network into a reliable system that supports long-term economic and social development. The new equipment will significantly enhance protection against overloads and short circuits, increasing the network’s resilience to failures and unexpected events, thereby reducing power outages and improving overall system reliability.
Moreover, the procurement has a crucial eco-friendly component, aligning with the latest European Union sustainability requirements. By replacing outdated oil-based circuit breakers, Reţele Electrice Muntenia is taking a significant step toward reducing environmental impact. The new equipment will also eliminate the use of SF6 gas, a potent greenhouse gas, complying with the EU mandate to phase out SF6-based equipment by January 1, 2026.
Reţele Electrice Muntenia, along with its partner companies, operates over 134,000 kilometers of electrical networks in three key regions: Muntenia Sud (including Bucharest), Banat, and Dobrogea. These networks include 289 transformer stations and more than 25,000 transformer substations.
