Sebastian Burduja, Minister of Energy: “Almost every day, we sign new financing contracts, and after a year in office, I am pleased with the pace of launching investment programs, evaluating projects, and signing contracts.

There’s always room for improvement, and today we signed an agreement with UEFISCDI, the agency I collaborated with as Minister of Research, which will ensure an even faster pace for project evaluations.

All these billions of euros will make Romania more secure in the energy sector and lead to better prices on Romanians’ bills. Beyond the developments in spot markets, bills are capped until April 1, 2025. However, it is important that by then, we bring as many new or modernized capacities into operation as possible and complete the projects we have started. Investments mean thousands of new jobs and the chance to revive the Romanian industry for the energy sector.

Just yesterday, we put forward for transparency a government decision to unblock a new hydropower project on the Olt Valley, a project started before 1989: Cornetu-Avrig. The remaining work will exceed 300 million lei, and the government decision provides the funds needed for the expropriations necessary to complete the project.”
