The Minister of Energy signed another 55 financing contracts for solar park construction projects for municipalities and public institutions

“To date, we have signed projects worth over 1 billion lei for municipalities and public institutions, enabling them to build solar parks and reduce electricity bills. Just today, we signed with 55 municipalities and public institutions, supporting local communities to cut utility costs, ensure energy supply for schools, nurseries, clinics, or public lighting, and redirect the saved funds into new community investments.”
Today, December 13, 2024, the Minister of Energy, Sebastian Burduja, signed 55 financing contracts under the call funded by the Modernization Fund, Key Program 1: Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Storage – Supporting Investments in New Renewable Energy Production Capacities for Self-Consumption by Public Entities. The total value of the contracts signed today amounts to 120.9 million lei, with a total installed capacity of 18.45 MW.
“The motto of my mandate remains unchanged: investments, investments, investments. So far, under this call, we have signed 367 financing contracts for the construction of new solar parks. The direct beneficiaries are municipalities and public institutions, as well as citizens who will enjoy cleaner air, cheaper energy, and new investments in local communities. The total value of the contracts signed to date exceeds 1 billion lei, of which 938 million lei are non-reimbursable funds from the Modernization Fund,” stated Minister of Energy Sebastian Burduja.
The Ministry of Energy reaffirms its commitment to energy investments, thereby achieving an important objective for the development of renewable energy production capacities in Romania. Approximately 1,400 public institutions applied under this call, and the Ministry of Energy team ensured funding from the Modernization Fund for all eligible projects submitted. The evaluation and contracting principle is “first-come, first-served” (FIFO), based on the time of submission of each applicant’s funding request.
