Arad becomes a green energy hub: CCE completes first 40 MW solar park, powering 17,000 households
The Ministry of Energy and CCE have announced the completion of a major 40 MW solar park in Vladimirescu, Arad County. This marks the first project undertaken by CCE in Romania and the first completed with support from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). The investment, exceeding 35 million euros, will generate green energy for approximately 17,000 households, underscoring the commitment of both the authorities and the private sector to increase the share of renewable sources in the national energy system.
During a visit by the Ministry of Energy team, led by Minister Sebastian Burduja, progress on the new Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant in Arad was also highlighted. This major project, also funded through PNRR, is receiving nearly 300 million lei in state aid and is expected to achieve an efficiency rate of 88.2% upon completion. The CHP plant will bring significant benefits to the local community, improving air quality and reducing maintenance costs.
Sebastian Burduja, the Minister of Energy, emphasized the importance of each additional MW in the national grid, stating: “The long hours, nerves, and stress in the ministry are not in vain. With every new MW brought online, Romanian bills will decrease, and Romania’s energy will become safer, more accessible, and greener.”
CCE has ambitious plans in Romania, developing solar projects totaling 1.3 GW, of which 220 MW will be installed in the next two years. These investments contribute to Romania’s goals of attracting 13 billion euros in non-repayable funds and promoting a transition to greener energy.
