Hidroelectrica begins modernization of Vaduri, Remeți, and Arcești hydropower plants to strengthen Romania’s energy security
Hidroelectrica has launched a significant modernization project for the Vaduri, Remeți, and Arcești hydropower plants, signing contracts with a consortium consisting of Hidroserv and UCMH. These investments are crucial for maintaining the efficient and sustainable operation of the company’s infrastructure, meeting the latest technological standards.
At the Vaduri Hydropower Plant, the work includes modernizing hydro-generator number 2 (HA2), the 110 kV substation, and the associated mechanical and electrical equipment. The base cost of this contract is 79,196,442 RON, with an additional 7,823,304 RON allocated for unforeseen expenses.
For the Remeți Hydropower Plant, modernization will involve hydro-generator number 2 (HA2), the 110 kV substation, general installations, and the pressure node, including the Drăgan Dam. The base cost of this contract is 144,868,245 RON, with up to 14,388,433 RON for unforeseen expenses.
At the Arcești Hydropower Plant, the modernization will focus on hydro-generator number 2 and the replacement of the automation and monitoring system for hydro-generator number 1. The contract value is 82,390,687 RON.
Karoly Borbely, CEO of Hidroelectrica, emphasized the importance of these investments in maintaining the company’s leadership position in the energy market and ensuring a secure and efficient portfolio. “Investments in infrastructure are fundamental for Romania’s energy security,” he stated.
Hidroelectrica, the largest electricity producer in Romania, manages 187 hydropower plants with a total production capacity of 6.3 MWh and plays a significant role in the stability and security of the country’s energy supply. In addition to producing green energy, the company provides technological services for the National Energy System and operates a 108 MW wind farm in Crucea.
