Romgaz covers over 45% of domestic gas consumption in H1 2024
Romgaz, Romania’s largest gas producer, supplied more than 45% of the country’s domestic gas consumption in the first half of 2024. The company produced 2.48 billion cubic meters of gas, reflecting a 4.3% increase compared to the same period last year.
Răzvan Popescu, CEO of Romgaz, highlighted that the company achieved a 4.3% rise in natural gas production and a 9% increase in consolidated net profit for the first half of 2024. Investments during this period amounted to 1.25 billion RON, accounting for approximately 72% of the planned investment value.
In the context of a national gas consumption estimated at 56 TWh (5.3 billion cubic meters) for H1 2024, Romgaz provided 25.4 TWh (2.4 billion cubic meters), covering 45.3% of domestic consumption and 54.3% of gas from domestic production. The remainder of the gas was covered by imports, totaling 9.3 TWh. This increase in production marks Romgaz’s second significant rise, following the one achieved in the first half of 2021.
