Romgaz, the largest producer and main supplier of natural gas in Romania, celebrates 10 years since listing on the Bucharest Stock Exchange
The National Company of Natural Gas Romgaz S.A., the largest producer and main supplier of natural gas in Romania, celebrates 10 years since its listing on the Bucharest Stock Exchange, under the ticker symbol SNG. The company’s shares have been trading on the stock exchange since November 12, 2013. At the end of the trading session on November 10, 2023, the company’s capitalization was RON 17.9 billion, making it the fourth largest listed company by capitalization.
“On this special day, we mark an important milestone in our history – a decade since ROMGAZ was listed on the Stock Exchange. This stage represented a commitment to shareholders mainly by increasing transparency, as well as a decisive step towards sustainable and responsible development. Our team has demonstrated perseverance and continuous work, generating constant shareholder value. This success would not have been possible without the support and trust of our investors, who have been with us at every stage of the company’s development. In the decade that has passed since its listing, ROMGAZ has demonstrated top performance in the natural gas industry. ROMGAZ’s share price on the Stock Exchange reached an all-time high of RON 52.2/share during the trading session of 27.06.2022, which led to a maximum capitalization of RON 19.93 billion. The increased interest of investors was due both to ROMGAZ’s acquisition of the stake in the Neptun Deep block, as well as to the remarkable financial results obtained by the company. We managed to consolidate our position as a key player in the energy sector, maintaining our commitment to provide stability and security of gas supply. With a future-oriented vision, we want to adapt our business model to current challenges and opportunities. Our commitment is not only to meet today’s energy requirements, but also to ensure a cleaner and more sustainable energy future for future generations.“, said Razvan Popescu, General Manager ROMGAZ.
“We mark a decade since the listing on the local stock exchange of a reference company in the Romanian economy, Romgaz, a company with a rich history that laid the foundations of the natural gas industry in Romania. Today, strongly anchored in the dynamics of the present, Romgaz is the largest producer and main supplier of natural gas in Romania, carrying out projects of national interest and diversifying its activity, thus representing an example of a successful issuer that attracts the attention of institutional investors. On the Bucharest Stock Exchange, Romgaz, a company whose majority shareholder is the Romanian state, is one of the most traded companies and at the same time its shares occupy a considerable weight in BVB indices. Given the good liquidity of SNG lately, we hope to soon see Romgaz present in the indices of global index provider FTSE Russell for emerging markets and we also expect Romgaz to play an important role in the potential of promoting the Romanian capital market to emerging market status from MSCI as well. With a market capitalization that increased by 52% compared to the IPO, with a total return of 171%, Romgaz is certainly an eloquent example of the performance that a state-owned company can have on the Bucharest Stock Exchange.” said Adrian Tanase, CEO Bucharest Stock Exchange.
Romgaz listed on the BVB Regulated Market on November 12, 2013, following the successful completion of a secondary initial public offering worth RON 1.7 billion, which was carried out both on the local stock exchange and on the London Stock Exchange. At the end of the trading session on Friday, November 10th, Romgaz’s capitalization was RON 17.9 billion, a value over 50% higher than the capitalization at its debut on the stock exchange.
