The Romanian Association for Lighting launches the first edition in Romanian of The Street Lighting Control Specifications Model

On the International Day of Light, the Romanian Association for Lighting, a nationally representative organisation in the field of professional lighting, announces the launch of the first edition in Romanian of The Street Lighting Control Specifications Model. This guide was developed within an Australian government program and has been adapted to the European technical requirements and standards by A.R.I. with the help, effort and contribution of its members. Public authorities, procurement departments, technical personnel, public lighting service operators, as well as consulting and design firms can access the guide here.

The second edition of the model and the first edition in Romanian comes with updates regarding technological aspects to keep up with market advancements. It is applicable to small and large-scale projects, both in urban and rural applications. Furthermore, it is structured to include a range of selectable options that each user must choose to provide a personalized specification, specially tailored to their needs.

The guide was created by the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia (IPWEA) as part of the Street Lighting and Smart Lighting Control Systems (SLSC) program. For Romania, the information was adapted by:

• Dan Vătăjelu – A.R.I. President and CEO of Flash Lighting Services;
• Bogdan Lupu – A.R.I. General Secretary and Marketer Product at Signify;
• Andreea Năsturel – Sales Support Engineer at Flash Lighting Services;
• George Zaharia – Traffic Division Director at Flash Lighting Services.

Prior to publication, the guide was sent for public consultation to all public lighting companies in Romania (both A.R.I. members and non-member companies), as well as to the Association of Romanian Municipalities, the Association of Romanian Cities, the Association of Romanian Communes, Romanian Energy Cities, the Environmental Fund Administration, the National Agency for Public Procurement, the National Regulatory Authority for Community Public Utility Services, and other stakeholders.

“Fortunately, technology is constantly evolving, which means that professionals, whether they work in the public or private sector, need a comprehensive overview to properly evaluate and compare the solutions and offers they encounter – these are the needs that the guide seeks to address,” says Dan Vătăjelu, A.R.I. President and CEO of Flash Lighting Services. “When solutions are chosen correctly, they not only function well but also deliver significant long-term results, such as predictable operating costs, long service life, up to 70% reduction in electricity costs, and compliance with the lighting levels mandated by European standards,” adds Dan Vătăjelu.
