Eurowind energy obtains construction permit for the 66 MW Frumușița wind farm in Galați county

Eurowind Energy, the Danish developer and operator of wind, solar, and hybrid projects, has received the construction permit for the Frumușița wind farm located in Galați County. The new wind farm will include 11 turbines and will have the capacity to supply green energy to 62,000 households. It is expected to become operational by the end of 2026.

In May, EWE FRUMUȘIȚA S.R.L., the company operated by the Danish group Eurowind Energy, obtained the construction permit in accordance with Law no. 50/1991, authorizing the start of works for this project. With an installed capacity of 66 MW, the Frumușița wind farm is part of Eurowind Energy’s strategy to invest in developing renewable energy capacities in Romania. The company holds a portfolio of projects in various stages of development, totaling over 4,000 MW nationwide, thereby consolidating its position as a leader in the green energy sector.

“Part of our portfolio of energy projects under development, the wind farm in Galați County will significantly contribute to our sustainability goals and the reduction of carbon emissions. By the end of 2025, the construction permits granted to Eurowind Energy projects in Romania will cover 450 MW, thus supporting the mitigation of global environmental issues and the development of local communities. The company’s strategic plan locally aims at building traditional on-grid projects, preparing storage solutions, hybridization, and establishing large-scale energy centers,” said Adrian Dobre, Country Manager Romania at Eurowind Energy.

The project also includes a connection agreement with the grid operated by Distribuție Energie Electrică România (DEER), ensuring the efficient integration of the generated energy into the national system. The construction will involve the installation of 11 wind turbines, development of access roads, assembly and maintenance platforms, a dedicated electrical substation, and electrical conductors to interconnect the turbines and connect them to the substation.
