Sebastian Burduja, Minister of Energy: The first day of November, the first wind farm put into operation in Romania this year, with money from the Ministry of Energy, through PNRR
This autumn we continue to reap the fruits of last year’s work. I am referring to the projects contracted from Investment 1 – PNRR last year, after taking over the mandate of Minister of Energy. Thanks to the effort of the ministry team, we managed to evaluate all the projects in record time, to sign the contracts for 300 projects by the last day of the year, and now to have over 1000 MW new for the production of green energy on site.
Last week we marked the commissioning of the photovoltaic park in Sărmășag, in Sălaj County, with an installed capacity of 51.4 MW and 22 MWh of battery storage. And the start of PPC works for a new wind farm, of 140MW, in Vaslui County.
Today, November 1st, ROMCIM, the beneficiary of a PNRR contract with a non-reimbursable value of 6.1 million euros, commissioned a 30 MW wind farm in Medgidia, Constanta County. As a result of the installation of the new capacity for the production of energy from wind renewable sources, the amount of greenhouse gas emissions is reduced by 44,878.99 tons of CO2 equivalent, and the production of green energy will increase by 72,655 MWh/year.
Even more gratifying is that all the electricity produced will be used for own consumption in the cement, concrete and aggregates production activity in the ROMCIM factory. This means an increase in the competitiveness of the business in Romania and, implicitly, in the medium and long term, safer and better paid jobs.
We are on the right track in achieving our energy goal: energy security, increasing the competitiveness of the Romanian economy, fair prices for all consumers and the greenest possible energy mix.
Investments in energy are not seen from one day to the next. But they are beginning to be seen, megawatt by megawatt. And it will get better and better.
Forward, together!
